Fellowship Expansion and Relocation

ህብረቱ የመደበኛ ጥናት ስብሰባዎቹን ከካፒቶል ሂል ወደ ዌስትሚኒስተር ፕሬስቤቴሪያን ቤተ ክርስቲያን አዛወረ። ህብረቱም “የሲያትል ኢትዮጵያውያን ክርስቲያኖች ህብረት” በመባል ይጠራ ነበር።

The fellowship moved its regular Bible study meetings from Capitol Hill to Westminster Presbyterian Church. The fellowship became known as the “Ethiopian Fellowship of Seattle.”

1985

የቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ ሕጋዊ ምዝገባ

Official Registration of the Church

በህብረቱ ውስጥ የኦርቶዶክስና የካቶሊክ እምነት ተከታዮችም ስለነበሩ ሁሉን ያማከለ ስያሜ እንዲኖር በማሰብ “መድኅኔ ዓለም ወንጌላዊት ቤተ ክርስቲያን” የሚለው ስም ተሰጠ። በኅዳር 13 ቀን 1985 ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ በዋሽንግተን ግዛት በሕጋዊነት ተመዘገበች።

መጋቢ ስብሐት ጠና የመጀመሪያዋ መጋቢ ሆነው ተሾሙ።

To create a name that welcomed all Ethiopian Christians, including Orthodox and Catholic believers participating in the fellowship, the church adopted the name “Medhane Alem Evangelical Church.” On November 13, 1985, the church was officially registered in Washington State.

Pastor Sebhat Tena became the church’s first pastor.

ሁለንተናዊ አገልግሎትና ወንጌል ስርጭት

Holistic Ministry and Outreach

ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ “Fellowship, Food and Fun” በሚል ፕሮግራሞችን በማዘጋጀት ከሱዳንና ከኬንያ ለሚመጡ ኢትዮጵያውያንና ኤርትራውያን አገልግሎት ትሰጥ ነበር። በዚህም ብዙዎች ወንጌልን ሰሙ።

በተጨማሪም በሲያትል የትግርኛና የኦሮምኛ ቋንቋ ተናጋሪዎች ህብረት እንዲጀምር ትልቅ አስተዋጽኦ አደረገች።

The church organized programs called “Fellowship, Food and Fun” for Ethiopians and Eritreans arriving from Sudan and Kenya. Through these ministries, many people heard the Gospel.

The church also helped establish Tigrinya- and Oromo-speaking fellowships in Seattle.

1990s

የመሪነት ለውጥ/Leadership Transition

የሕንፃ ራዕይና መስዋዕትነት/Building Vision

ከመጋቢ ስብሐት ጠና በኋላ መጋቢ ብርሃኑ ፈለቀ የቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ ዋና መጋቢ ሆነው ተሾሙ።

Pastor Birhanu Feleke was appointed as senior pastor after Pastor Sebhat Tena.

ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ የራሷ የአምልኮ ቦታ እንደሚያስፈልጋት በማመን የሕንፃ ኮሚቴ ተቋቋመ። አባላቱም በጸሎትና በገንዘብ በታላቅ መስዋዕትነት ተሳተፉ። አንዳንዶች ወርቅና የጋብቻ ቀለበቶቻቸውን እንኳ ሰጡ።

A building committee was formed as the church recognized the need for its own worship facility. Members prayed, gave sacrificially, and donated money, jewelry, and even wedding rings toward purchasing a church building.

2000

የሙሉ ጊዜ መጋቢዎች ሹመት

Appointment of Full-Time Pastors

ከብዙ ጸሎት በኋላ ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ መጋቢ ግርማ ደሳለኝንና መጋቢ አምበሌ ነጋሽን የሙሉ ጊዜ መጋቢዎች አድርጋ ሾመች።

በዚያው ዓመት ዌስትሚኒስተር ቤተ ክርስቲያን ህንፃውን እንዲለቁ ካሳሰበቻቸው በኋላ ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ ወደ Advent Christian Church ተዛወረች።

After much prayer, the church appointed Pastor Girma Desalegn and Pastor Ambele Negash as full-time pastors.

That same year, Westminster Church requested the congregation to vacate the building they had used for nearly 15 years. The church relocated to Advent Christian Church near Capitol Hill.

2010

Spiritual Growth and Community Outreach

2010ዎቹ – መንፈሳዊ እድገትና ማህበራዊ አገልግሎት

ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ የወጣቶች መጋቢዎችን፣ ተልዕኮ አስተባባሪዎችን፣ የልጆች አገልጋዮችንና አስተማሪዎችን በማሰማራት አገልግሎቷን አስፋፋች። በተጨማሪም በኢትዮጵያ በተፈጥሮ አደጋ ለተጎዱ ወገኖች እርዳታ አደረገች፣ ወላጅ ለጡ ህፃናትን ረዳች፣ ለወጣት ሴቶች የሙያ ስልጠና ሰጠች፣ እንዲሁም ለአገልጋዮች የአመራር ስልጠና ሰጠች።

The church expanded its ministries by appointing youth pastors, missions coordinators, children’s workers, and teachers. It also supported disaster victims in Ethiopia, helped orphans and single-parent families, provided vocational training for young women, and offered leadership training for ministers.

2020s

40th Anniversary and Continued Expansion

2020ዎቹ – 40ኛ ዓመት ክብረ በዓልና ቀጣይ እድገት

ከ40 ዓመታት አገልግሎት በኋላ ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ 40ኛ ዓመት ክብረ በዓሏን አከበረች። በሁሉም ፈተና ውስጥ የእግዚአብሔርን ታማኝነት አስታወሰች።

በተጨማሪም በኖርዝ አጥቢያ አዲስ የአምልኮ ስፍራ በመግዛት አገልግሎቷን አስፋፋች።

ዛሬ ቤተ ክርስቲያኒቱ 5 ቋሚ መጋቢዎችና ከ12 በላይ የአገልግሎት ዘርፎች አሏት፣ ምዕመናኑም በታማኝነት እግዚአብሔርን እያገለገሉ ነው።

After forty years of ministry, the church celebrated its 40th anniversary, recognizing God’s faithfulness through every challenge.

The church also purchased an additional worship facility in the North district to further expand its ministry reach.

Today, the church has five full-time pastors and more than twelve ministry departments actively serving God.
